When There Are No Words

There are times in our lives when what we are experiencing is so profound or confusing that we don’t seem to have the right words to express what we are experiencing.  Sunday Night’s performance of “Experiencing God” was one of those moments for me. I googled other people in the Bible who were at a loss for words and here’s what I found:

Moses

Described himself as "of slow speech, and of a slow tongue" and felt he was not a man of words. He even asked God to send someone else to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, but God eventually granted him the ability to speak.

Zechariah

Was a priest who doubted the angel Gabriel's message that he and his wife would have a son. In punishment for his unbelief, Gabriel struck him mute, and he was unable to speak until the prophecy was fulfilled.

Job.

experienced immense suffering and loss, and at the end of his story, he was left speechless when God answered him from the storm with a series of questions about creation.

The Israelite spies

in the book of Numbers were sent to scout the land of Canaan. After seeing the strength of the inhabitants, they were "at a loss for words" to express their fear, stating, "We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are,"

Of these well known people in the Bible, I would say that my feelings were very similar to those of Job, who stated, “I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You;” After all Job went through he goes on to say, I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.  Job was willing to continue in the state he was presently in until God chose to change the situation.  After all his utter angst, Job was finally content with God.

Can you say that you are content with God right now? Are you at peace with your circumstances, and your successes or failures? Do you truly have peace about your life? If not, maybe this is God’s invitation for you to draw near to Him.  I have learned that God gives us turmoil sometimes to test us, to allow us to see how well or how little we trust Him.  Let me encourage you to take this moment as a time to turn, test Him and see that He is good and more than able to handle anything that comes your way.  President Trump posted many times, “Miss me?”  God is saying the same thing to you right now, what will you say to God?

Blessings,
